This spring, the sparkle isn’t just in the gemstones—it’s in the variety of activities available for everyone in the family. The upcoming Spring New Jersey Gem Show returns this year from May 14-18 with exciting new additions that make it more than just a showcase for collectors and enthusiasts. With the return of the Kid Zone, the opportunity to support artists fundraising for Hurricane Helene, and the crowd-pleasing Rubber Duck Treasure Hunt, there’s something for every age and interest at this year’s event.
Kid Zone: A Playground for Young Gem Enthusiasts
Located at Booth 1251, near the café and seating area, the Kid Zone is a vibrant space designed to engage the youngest gem lovers and give parents a chance to relax. Open daily from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM during the event, this interactive area offers hands-on activities including craft tables, an arts & crafts station, and a lively Dino Dig where kids can unearth small gems and mini fossils (with a limit of five treasures per child).
Safety is a top priority, so children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. It’s fun, educational, and free with show admission—making the Kid Zone a must-visit destination for families.
Asheville Rising: Supporting Artists Impacted by Hurricane Helene
The gem show isn’t just about brilliant crystals and ancient fossils—it’s also a platform for healing and hope. At Booth 1241, the Asheville Rising Tent showcases stunning work from four Asheville, NC-based artists who lost their homes and studios during Hurricane Helene.
Their artwork is available for purchase, with proceeds directly aiding their recovery and revitalizing Asheville’s River Arts District. Visitors can also donate via QR codes posted around the venue, contributing to a fund managed by the nonprofit Let’s Choose Love.
Russell and Missy Carhart of Hart Events USA, who personally endured the devastation of Hurricane Sandy in 2012, partnered with Wendy White and the Asheville Rising project to bring this mission to life. It’s a heartfelt reminder that behind every painting and sculpture is a story worth supporting.
Rubber Duck Treasure Hunt: Find, Snap, Win!
Adding a dose of whimsy to the show is the wildly fun Rubber Duck Treasure Hunt. Hundreds of rubber ducks are hidden throughout the venue, just waiting to be found by curious adventurers. Ducks can be kept, re-hidden, or—if you’re lucky—redeemed for prizes!
GOLD ducks have invisible codes that unlock mystery prizes at the Showcase Office by the lobby, while SILVER ducks are good for surprise rewards. Snap a photo, share it on social media using hashtags like #GemShowDucks and #HiddenTreasures, and join in the community spirit. And to keep things safe, ducks should not be hidden near food areas or on vendor tables.
A Gem Show for Everyone
Whether you’re digging for dinos, supporting artists in need, or on the hunt for golden ducks, The Spring New Jersey Gem Show is more than an event—it’s an experience. With activities for kids, meaningful ways to give back, and surprises around every corner, it brings together community, creativity, and a whole lot of sparkle under one roof. Come for the gems, stay for the joy, and leave inspired. Get your tickets today (if you haven’t already)!
